 Magnet Cove Elementary

Counselor's Corner

Magnet Cove is a wonderful place filled with great students, parents, teachers, and staff. Parents, please feel free to stop by and visit at any time. My goal is to help make your child's school experience a positive and successful one.

Parents – here is a link to a new book by school counselor/author Julia Cook.  Ms. Cook recorded her book on YouTube so that you can watch and discuss with your child.   Her book,The Yucky Bug, gives good, easy to understand information that may help your child and you through our current situation.

This link will help you discuss The Yucky Bug with your child  –

Talking to your child about the Coronavirus –

With school closed, you might like tips and activities to help your child play and learn at home. Sign up for the FREE PBS KIDS newsletter at

Limit your children’s exposure to the media and remain calm about this issue with your children in order to help them address their fears.  I have had several children ask me about the Coronavirus over the past week – just curious about what it is and what it might mean for us.  Now that we are out of school, there is a temporary change to all of our schedules.  Answer any questions your children might have in a way that will not cause them to become fearful.  Stress the importance of washing hands properly.  Check out some of the tips above and enjoy your time together.

If I can be of any assistance, I am available through email to answer any questions or help in any way.  Please do not hesitate to contact me.
