The Magnet Cove School District continues to work in collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Health and local healthcare facilities to address needs associated with COVID-19 and our students. We would like to provided support where needed, therefore we are collecting information on the interest of our community to hold a vaccination clinic for COVID -19 at our school district. Nurse reminders for the 2021-2022 school year for grades 6-12. Students who are age 11 or 16 or will be turning 11 or 16 this summer need to get the following state required immunizations to attend public school prior to the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year.  *Age 11 needs Tdap and first Meningitis (MCV4)  *Age 16 needs second Meningitis (MCV4)   If your child has an Exemption from immunizations I need a copy. These have to be renewed each school year.  If you are diabetic I will need a current Diabetic Plan of Care on the first day of school. Please read and sign the attached Glucagon permission form as well if your child will have Glucagon at school.  If you have an Epipen or inhaler I will need a plan of care from the physician on the first day of school. If you plan on your child self carrying an Epipen and or inhaler please have the doctor sign the attached form. Also, you will need to sign the attached form giving us permission to allow the student to self carry. If your child will be taking any medication at school you will need to fill out the attached medication form and bring it to me in the original prescription bottle with the current date. If you child has a seizure disorder, please have the doctor complete the attached Seizure Action Plan.

Dawson ABC Pre-K is now accepting applications for the 2021-2022 school year.  If your child will be 3 by August 1, 2021 they can apply.  The application link is listed below.  If you have any questions, you can contact Dawson at 870-246-1450 and speak with someone in the Arkansas Better Chance Department.  All applications will be done online.

Magnet Cove School District follows the guidance of the Arkansas Department of Health. Per this guidance at this time, we do not share the campus or district number of positive cases. Both FERPA and HIPAA allow the sharing of information to the public health agency in an imminent threat or emergency.  We provide this data to the Arkansas Department of Health and these numbers are included in their data. Some school level data is provided via their website, but anything less than 5 becomes identifiable.  https://achi.net/covid19/

We have a Point of Contact identified to be our liaison with the Arkansas Department of Health and a process in place to help minimize the risk in our school. The Arkansas Department of Health is identifying confirmed cases on the county level.  If there are cases associated with students or staff in the school district, the student or staff member will be notified by the POC and health department officials.  For the privacy of students and staff, the district will not be sharing any information unless a student/staff member is identified as a Probable Close Contact to a person testing positive for COVID-19.  We are committed to provide the safest learning environment and will follow the guidance provided by the CDC and the Arkansas Department of Education in conjunction with the Arkansas Department of Health. However, if you are overly concerned, we do offer a 100% Virtual Learning Option for the students in our district.

We appreciate and recognize the history of our elementary school and all of our campuses. With construction of the new elementary school to soon begin, portions of our beloved rock wall located on the north side of our campus will be torn down. Our plan is to repurpose the salvageable rocks and all other historical aspects of the current elementary school into the new elementary school where appropriate and feasible. We appreciate and understand that many of our patrons hold sentimental attachment to our present elementary school building and the rock wall.

In the future we plan to provide an opportunity for our community members to obtain a little piece of Magnet Cove history by picking up a rock or brick from the building. We will notify those interested prior to the disposal of any of these sentimental materials. We look forward to merging the history of Magnet Cove Elementary School with its future!
